#BGIM-Bless God It’s Monday WE: Will #BOUNCEback

Quotes_Creator_20180730_062046

We bless God for another Monday as this: the last Monday of July, 2018. The time for us to work and see God’s blessings manifested through the work of our hands. (Deuteronomy 28:12)

#BGIM- WE WILL BOUNCE BACK

The greatest story I will ever hear in this time of Midland-Policeman-Beating-Woman period is when the people of Midland Savings and Loans Ltd tell themselves we will bounce back. There has been much public backlash on the company with some even going to the extreme of calling for the closure of all branches of the company nationwide for that unfortunate incident.

It’s hard for companies to build a reputation, much less to get customers to patronise their goods and services. So for one bad incident to tarnish their image and spoil all the gains they have chalked over time, it’s definitely going to be a difficult period for Midland now. Customers wanting to withdraw their money and new, prospective customers shying away because of that incident.

Hmmmmm but I want to assure Midland and any company that has suffered such a fate that THERE IS HOPE. They surely can bounce back. Let me ask a question?

Who is the first and only coach to have won the UEFA Champions League 3 times in a row (including the first ever BACK-to-BACK)?

I hope you are saying Zinedine Zidane? Do you know of Zidane’s last contribution as a player?

The headbutt of Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup Final in Germany. Do you know that that headbutt cost him the 2006 World Best Player and Ballon d’Or Awards ?

But a dozen years afterwards, he has that enviable ‘unbreakable’ Back-3-Back record to his name.

We all can bounce back. Zizou is not the only to have ever bounced back.

‘Baby Jet’ Asamoah Gyan of the Ghana Black Stars fame also bounced back from the Public Outcry against him for his wastefulness of chances as a striker when Ghana hosted the 2008 AFCON. He’s now Africa’s alltime top goalscorer at the World Cup and his country’s leading goalscorer with 51 goals.

I know by now, you have more examples coming to mind.

We can take inspiration from these men and women to BOUNCE BACK Whenever Necessary.

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday- SHARE Your Experiences With Others

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH OTHERS

We bless God for another Monday as this where we would work throughout this week believing the Almighty God to bless the work of our hands. (Deuteronomy 28:12)

BGIM- SHARE Your Experiences With Others

Experience, they say, is the best teacher. So, you having gone through those experiences will always be in a better position than he who hasn’t gone through such an experience before. Is it a good thing to share?

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law shared his experience in leadership with Moses in Exodus 18 that leadership is not a one-man show and even if you try the one-man method, it will surely wear you out. And that was surely a vital experience which benefited Moses in his ministry.

Truth is, not everyone will take or be willing to welcome the experience you have learned but it is still worth attempting to share it. Don’t sit out unconcerned because it is not your turn. As you try sharing, you will know those who are receptive and then you can share more experiences with them.

It’s said the delight of every father is to see his children go farther in life than he did. And what best way to help them than to share the experiences of your mistakes and successes with them for their advantage.

Some might even forget to acknowledge your input. Others will but the beauty of life is we always want things in a better state so feel free to share to make things better for the common good.

Ask yourself this week, What Experience Can I Share With Others?
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

#BGIM- Bless God It’s Monday- LEARN From The SENIORS

Quotes_Creator_20180305_065954

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
LEARN FROM THE SENIORS

We bless the Almighty God for another Monday where we would work hard throughout this week for God to bless the work of our hands. (Deuteronomy 28:12)

BGIM- Learn From The Seniors

Yes!!! Learn from the seniors. It’s imperative that we learn from the seniors. In this life, there are always senior colleagues in any field and we can surely learn from them.

Learning from them doesn’t mean they are perfect but rather it means we are gleaning from the experience they have under their carpet which would be vital for us to also excel in life. They might have failed in certain areas, they might have excelled in certain areas but what is worth noting is that each experience of theirs will surely give us a head start should we meet such challenges ourselves.

They are not perfect but we surely can learn from them. A good example is this: if you have ever learnt a topic in school on your own without being taught by a teacher and then you have learnt a topic after a little teaching by your teacher, you will realise that in learning on your own, you will spend more time in trying to analyse and grasp it but with just an open mind and heart you can with little effort understand anything your teacher teaches. That’s the power of your teacher’s experience.

Experience, they say, is the best teacher. But some friends of mine believe that learning from the experience of others is far better. As it said that

where your father can see when standing on the ground, even if you stand on the tallest mountain, you can never see there”. (African Proverb)

So please humble yourselves and work closely with the seniors so that you can learn something from them. It will surely be an advantage and a blessing to you.

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday- THAT’S YOUR AUDITION: Give It Your Best

Quotes_Creator_20180226_071406

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
THAT’S YOUR AUDITION: Give It Your Best

Another Monday is before us and #BGIM welcomes most workers to another working week where we will see God bless us all through the very works of our hands. (Deuteronomy 28:12).

#BGIM- That’s Your Audition: Give It Your Best

Auditions are times that people need to be at their best performance levels because most often than not the slot is limited. If you don’t give the best performance/ output as possible, someone else will be chosen. Will you risk that chance or opportunity by lower performance levels? Hell No!!!

But what if I tell you that everyday is an Audition Day for you at work. Every client or customer you meet is auditioning you in one way or the other. Every task you are given at work is an audition unknowingly to you.

Eeeerrrhhhh? Is that true? Yes, it is true. Everyday is an audition and the auditions are in stages but you never know when the final stage comes where the winner or best participant would be selected.

So just like contestants of American Idol who know that any below par performance can send them, so also will you too, any below par performance at work on any assignment will make you miss the mark required to earn that position, award or special renumeration.

So #BGIM says that this week and beyond, work with the knowledge that THIS IS YOUR AUDITION, so you will give off your best always.

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday- Be PROACTIVE

Quotes_Creator_20180218_234925

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
BE PROACTIVE

Another Monday presents itself before us and the sons of men are surely returning to work in most places to work hard to earn a living as the Good Lord will surely bless the work of their hands. (Deuteronomy 28:12)

BGIM- Be Proactive

I remember so well the motivational talks my RME teacher gave us in JHS 3. Our teacher, Mr. Salem reading the book “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” always shared tips from it to as we prepared for our BECE (Basic Education Certificate Exams).

The only 3 he could share with us were:
-First things first
-Begin with the end in mind
-Be proactive

Proactive in the sense that you control what should happen or how you should deal with a situation rather than how you would respond to the situation.

Proactive will thus always be 3 steps ahead of reactive: how you will respond or react to the situation.

It involves taking measures far ahead of time to ensure you are not taken unaware by an eventuality. In a raining season where it can rain anytime with or without clouds gathering, organisers of an outdoor event especially the sound men (PROACTIVE ONES) will have the protective covering for all their speakers partly fitted on them before the event starts.

Not that it should rain but that should it rain they are well prepared. They won’t wait to see the clouds gathering before they run to and fro looking for protection for their equipment. And that’s we call Proactiveness over Reactiveness.

Are you proactive or you are reactive?
As a student, do you wait to one week to exams before you take your books serious?
As a worker, will you wait for your boss to start collecting your End-of-Year Department Report before you start working on it?

Proactiveness is the KEY.

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday- SEMINARS And REFRESHERS

Quotes_Creator_20180212_062727

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
SEMINARS And REFRESHERS

Another Monday is here with us again. And the Almighty God is ready to pour out His blessings on us through the work of our hands. (Deuteronomy 28:12)

#BGIM- Seminars and Refreshers

Seminars come on almost any time of the year, either frequently or once in a blue moon. And when seminars come, everyone should partake in. But some don’t especially the know-it-all people.

Attending seminars is good because at there, we learn new, modern and current technology and skills which would make us do our work better with high efficiency and effectiveness. So if you think you know whatever would happen 10 years from now, then please don’t attend any seminar or refresher course in the next 10 years.

Seminars also help us to sharpen our skills, knowledge and abilities. It’s said that a woodcutter who doesn’t sharpen his axe will realise that sharpening the axe before work is more important than the amount of energy he can apply in cutting.

At such places, we learn from each other too. Remember the Good Book says in Proverbs 27:17 that
“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” (ESV)
We learn from how others solved similar problems we are facing and the keys to their success stories.

At refresher courses and seminars, we learn and relearn some of the things we already know so that we can come out with refreshed minds and renewed energies like a car whose engine oil has been changed.

So make it a priority to attend seminars and refresher courses this year and your business will surely grow in leaps and bounds.

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday- Junior Workers, Climb Up

Quotes_Creator_20180205_061314

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
JUNIOR WORKERS CLIMB UP

Another Monday is before us here again and most workers will be returning to work after a relaxing weekend. #BGIM encourages all to work diligently cos God will surely bless the works of our hands (Deuteronomy 28:12)

#BGIM- Junior Workers, Climb Up!!!

After last week’s #BGIM admonished us all not to disrespect Junior Workers cos they are the future Senior Workers and also can influence any position or proposal of ours in a company, we speak to the Junior Workers this week.

Junior Workers, Climb Up.
Yes, you can’t stay in that position forever. You can’t always be at that level. Nature demands that all things should grow. Hence, you need to grow out of that position.

Growth or climbing up is not natural or constant as some think. We have to make a conscious effort to climb to the top. How can we do this?

Work harder and smarter than the rest.
When a senior position above is vacant, only the most diligent, ethical and committed junior workers will be recommended. Would that be you?

Upgrade yourself.
Some positions above require that you upgrade your qualifications Hence, you might need to get more certification, do some short courses even now in your current position. Will your qualifications match that position you desire when it’s available?

Relate well with all.
Relating well with everyone is a top benchmark for any recommendation. Relate well with customers or clients; relate well with senior workers; relate well with colleague works and relate well with subordinates too.

Do you know of other ways by which we can climb to the top?
Share them so that we all learn.

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday- Don’t Disrespect Junior Workers

Quotes_Creator_20180129_062453

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
DON’T DISRESPECT JUNIOR WORKERS

Another Monday presents itself before us and the sons of men would go out this week working hard with their hands as God blesses the work of their hands (Deuteronomy 28:12).

#BGIM – Don’t Disrespect Junior Workers

Yes. Don’t disrespect junior workers. I mean you have to respect junior employees and workers if you want to GROW this year and beyond.

The junior workers you see today will be the senior workers tomorrow: I mean in the not-too-distant or immediate future where they will be in that position of influence to determine the progress or retrogression of your company, goods or services. Even if in the far future, such a person will definitely have a say one day on your company, your proposal, your funding or application. Even now, they have a say.

A lady who went for an interview passed coming out tops. After the whole process, the managing director asked the receptionist how she saw that particular lady and the other interviewees. The receptionist responded that “Oh, that lady, hmmm. When she came, she didn’t greet anybody here. All she did was ask where is the boardroom and she moved there”.

The managing director upon receiving this response said that such a lady will not fit within the system here so the employment be passed to the second in line, who had respect for other junior workers in that company during the interview.

DO YOU HAVE RESPECT for Junior Workers?

You might even be their superior at work. But it’s still important you respect junior workers.

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday- BUILD A Connection with Them

Another Monday is before us and workers are returning to work to toil with their hands as they wait on the Almighty God to surely bless them through the work of their hands (Deuteronomy 28:12)

#BGIM- BUILD A CONNECTION WITH THEM

In this year of Growth as dubbed by #BGIM in the New Year’s Edition, one way we can surely grow our businesses is to build a connection with our clients or patrons.

I say it again, if we want to GROW in 2018, we need to build a connection with our customers. Why did I say it again? And how can we build connections with them?

You are not the only one providing that service or producing that products or goods in your country. You are not the only seeking for that sponsorship or investment from that funding organisation. You are not the only one making an advert of that goods or service you provide? Other people are doing same, so why should people patronize yours?

People would because you built a good connection with them. The connection in this case is a common ground of interest that would make the person feel that this product is one of our own. It might be

a common language (be it high standard English, average English, pidgin English, Twi, Ga, Ewe or any indigenous language)

-a catch phrase that people easily associate with (an example is Guiness’ MADE OF BLACK phrase)

-a slogan or name everyone likes (Happy Man, Sweet Mother)

-a geographical area (all patrons in Accra, all clients in Kumasi, Mumbai, New York or Johannesburg)

-an association (Builders Association, Artisans Association, Old Students Association)

Anything that can make you connect with that person is an advantage. Sometimes even your own name can help.

Do you know the similarity of your name to someone’s mother and father’s name can make a breakthrough for you? Much less their daughter or son’s name.

Build A Connection With Them

#BGIM: Bless God It’s Monday- No Freebies to Family and Friends This Year

Quotes_Creator_20180115_064513

#BGIM Bless God It’s Monday
No Freebies To Family and Friends This Year

Another Monday is before us and we bless God for this working week because we know that the Almighty God would Himself bless us through the work of our hands (Deuteronomy 28:12)

BGIM- NO FREEBIES to Family & Friends This Year

Yes!!! I said that. No freebies to family and friends this year. You might say I am not caring but #BGIM says that the constant, continuous and consistent freebies to family and friends is what is making your business not seeing the economic growth, profits and expansion.

Friends and family (F &F) are surely a backbone that every business relies on cos to have a safe mind to work hard, we need a safe mind socially. Hence, we all need our family and friends. But they playing vital roles in our lives, doesn’t mean they should get free things from our business or work to the detriment of our business.

A mother has a provision store. When her children come from school, each child picks any drink and biscuit of her choice, when her friends visit her at the shop, anything her friends buy she says they should take it for free not knowing that it is her business capital that she is losing. At the end of the day or week, when she balances her books, she would realise that she is around the same place she was the previous day, week or month with maybe marginal increases at times. Even in certain cases, the books show downward movement.

It is not that she is not supposed to give her children food (ie biscuits and drinks) as a mother after school, but rather because she doesn’t track how much is spent on that. If she is able to track it, she can control it so that the business does not retrogress but rather progresses.

She can make a fixed amount of things her children can take after school say GH¢ 3 and make sure, no child spends beyond that amount whilst keeping that as a record in her expenses book. Or she can say that when each child takes an item, he/she comes to show it to Mummy to record it in her book otherwise no more taking from the shop. And her kids would surely do so anytime they take. There are many many ways but I just love one way.

My Madam at school for whom I sell sachet water on her behalf to students pays anytime she herself takes from the ice chest. Woooowww!!! The owner of the business paying her for own service received.
Think about it.
